Design Director

The position

Fuzzco is hiring a design director with experience leading a variety of different projects including branding, web, and campaigns. We’re looking for kind, ambitious, creative people who are driven to make and lead amazing work in a collaborative environment.

Experience and abilities

  • ~7+ years of experience, with recent relevant experience in a Senior Designer or Director role at an agency or studio.
  • Experience designing and leading the design of brand systems that extend from identity to digital to campaigns.
  • Experience designing engaging, high performing product marketing sites
  • Healthy understanding for how web development works and the ability to work directly with developers to bring a website to life
  • Deep understanding of print methods and materials and the ability to lead print production projects from idea to execution
  • Ability to interpret, contribute to, and apply high-level brand strategy and make persuasive strategic arguments a part of all design work
  • Experience art directing disciplines such as illustration, motion, photo, and other creative outside of design.
  • Fluid in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong presentation skills and experience leading creative presentations to stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate easily with clients, to anticipate needs and build meaningful relationships
  • Demonstrates interest and ability to work directly with clients as a project lead when appropriate
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle a fast-paced work environment
  • Experience managing designers by delegating responsibility, providing clear direction and goals
  • Ability to mentor young designers to help them grow and develop the skills they need
  • Ability to own various operational aspects of the design team, including but not limited to resourcing and project staffing, design critique structures, role documentation, recruiting
  • Strong sense of professionalism, personal responsibility and accountability
  • Curiosity and ability to learn new technologies and stay abreast of developments in the design industry
  • An optimistic, positive perspective on the work that sets the tone for the entire team

Nice to have skills

  • Illustration or 3D capabilities
  • Enjoy copywriting and naming projects
  • Interest in front-end development or no-code website development such as Webflow
