We at Fuzzco are growing more and more interested in following the lead of some well respected web design firms in helping to set an example that Internet Explorer 6 is garbage and doesn’t deserve our energies. It’s not that we can’t find the appropriate workarounds, it’s that we think on a deeper level, it should be globally rejected. At the time of this 5% of our total website visitors are visiting using IE6, but that isn’t incredibly accurate. W3Schools.com reports the following global statistics:
For all of you out there who are using the Internet Explorer 6 browser. PLEASE consider upgrading. A few great reasons:
- It is 7 years old.
- It has security holes.
- It has an archaic css model and requires workarounds for flash.
- It doesn’t support transparent png files.
- It makes web developers like their jobs a little less than they would if it were banished.
Upgrade to Firefox or in the very least upgrade to Internet Explorer 7. Tell your friends, your parents, grandparents, co-workers, office mates, neighbors, strangers — you probably won’t have to tell your children.
